Mad Capital

Through Trailhead’s Regeneration fund I, WPMF is invested in Mad Capital. Mad Capital is the US-based sister company of the non-profit Mad Agriculture. It provides financing to farmers that are transitioning to sustainable, regenerative practices. The impact of such financing is immense since the transition may take several years and banks are generally not willing to finance this phase. Mad Capital is looking to finance 10 million acres (c. 10% of total) of farmland by 2032.

Matsmart

Through Blume Equity Fund I, WPMF is invested in Matsmart. Matsmart is a Sweden-based company with presence in the Nordics, Germany and the UK and is the leading European surplus food E-commerce platform. Matsmart sells excess inventory from A brands (such as Unilever and Dr Oetker) cheap online to cost- and climate-conscious consumers. A double win for both “the planet and people’s wallets.” Over 2023, they expect 19,860 metric tonnes of food waste prevented, resulting in 15,000 tonnes CO2. prevented.

UBQ

Through TPG Rise II, WPMF is invested in UBQ. UBQ is an Israeli company that produces a bio-based plastic substitute made from unsorted household waste. By diverting waste from being landfilled or incinerated, UBQ’s plastics prevents landfill ethane emissions. Also, by replacing conventional plastics, it avoids net emissions from plastic production. UBQ is currently building a manufacturing plant in Bergen op Zoom, which is planned to be operational by the end of 2023.
