Sustainable Land Management (SLM) is one of the first European managers – starting back in 2009 – to focus on sustainably managing land with a focus on farm – and timberland. It manages five different funds/separately managed accounts across Europe, Australia and the US. The Silva Europe Fund focuses on investing farms in Portugal and Spain and converting these to regenerative practices. Key outcomes that the fund is seeking to achieve are: CO2 sequestration, increased biodiversity, organic certification, increase in soil organic matter, water savings and social impact on employees and students. It focusses on permanent crops such as almonds, walnuts, olives and pistachios.
